How I Work
I approach therapy as a dialogue in which we explore your thoughts, feelings, and relationships to actively assist you in reaching the goals that you and I identify together. By helping you gain objective feedback, I seek to empower you to decide how best to leverage all your experiences, allowing you to move forward with clarity and strength.
My practice is diverse and I draw from many different clinical approaches and modalities when relating to your larger context. I am dedicated to maintaining a multiculturally competent lens with clients and do not underestimate the impact of socio-cultural and political movements on the individual as well as the interplay between them and one’s inner life and relationships.
Identifying points of connection with clients is an important piece of my work. I strive to create an environment in which individuals can safely explore beyond the personal and social boundaries of what is “permissible, accepted, and normal.” My goal is to establish a therapeutic relationship that allows you to know your self deeper with curiosity, clarity, and compassion, so that you can live the life you hope for. We are not striving for perfection. We are aiming for the growth that comes with the flexibility found in vulnerability, authenticity and self awareness.
Services Offered
-
Individual Therapy
Together we can work through the struggles you experience and help you to move toward a healthier you, and healthier relationships with those around you. In individual therapy, I can help you to grow and understand why you feel the way you do, address barriers to contentment, and provide guidance to sustain change.
In addition to adult therapy, I offer child and adolescent therapy that allows individuals to work on personal issues that are best addressed in a private setting. In this modality, I will periodically request to meet with the family so I can stay connected with the family system and to coach parents to support the changes within their child.
-
Family Therapy
I encourage honest, empathetic communication and implement family centered strategies that aid hearing, healing, and greater clarity. Family therapy can help the family unit recognize unhealthy patterns, build on strengths, and develop alternative solutions while providing all members a voice in the process.
I often use a combined approach in family therapy; I meet with the adult(s)/parent(s) to help encourage important shifts to make home life function better. I also meet with kid(s) on their own to hear and understand their perspective. I bring everyone together in family sessions where I help facilitate improved communication and relationships.

Couples Counseling
Sustaining relationships takes effort, dedication, and much hard work. Each individual's history brings a unique perspective to the union and therapy can help couples recognize how they are uniting their diverse histories into one partnership. My approach is to teach skills on how to adeptly identify and navigate relationship barriers.
Couples therapy is an opportunity to better understand and work through past or current issues that are impacting the relationship. It is an investment for the long-term, providing couples the skills and strategies needed to build trust, open lines of communication, and manage life together. I used a combined approach to fully meet the collective needs.
